With summer right around the corner, and the amount of entertaining we do here, I always like to have the house white and sparkling wines ordered early. This year I have found two good choices that won't break the bank. Both are under $13.00 a bottle.
For white, we are serving a Sauvignon from Touraine , Domaine de la Potine that Freddie Victoria served at his cocktail party.
For Sparkling it's Blanc de Blanc, Comte de Gascogne, it's much less cher than it's cousin Champagne and not so over invited as Prosecco.
The versatilty of white is always a benefit because, one can of course just add a splash of Creme de Cassis et volia Kirs.
The White of Summer, made by a young vintner in France available through Moore Brothers Wine Co.
For the Blanc de Blanc one needs the right glasses and napkins, we use glasses from Michael Devine Home and Diana Vreeland quote napkins from my friend Charlotte Moss.
Sounds yummy...I just used my napkins a few weeks ago and they received rave reviews.
You and Thomas make a mean kir!
Well we do like Kirs- they are so easy and festive.
Thanks for the tip about the Blanc de Blanc. Mrs. E. loves a good sparkling and we frequently run out... with the exchange rate Champagne is becoming a luxury once again. Kir Royale, by contrast, is a necessity.
Mrs E. I couldn't agree more- life would be too bleak without Kirs.
