Dining at MR&A

Master New York Interior Designers Michael Rosenberg and Leonard Kowalski, of MR&A, are known for their exquisite style and attention to detail. A dinner at their Manhattan apartment is a treat for the senses. Like many of their distinguished clients, their apartment is brimming with notable pieces of artwork, rich textures and beautiful music. These Kips Bay Showhouse veterans know how to entertain with effortless elan.

An art filled apartment makes a beautiful background for a dinner with friends.

Tell me about the occasion and meal you made.
For this intimate dinner with friends I made simple comfort foods. We started with a green salad dressed in a classic vinaigrette. The main course was braised short ribs over polenta followed by a warm Tarte Tatin.

What influences your menu choices when you entertain?
Like many New Yorkers I have a very small kitchen which limits my menus. I like to prepare foods that are easy and unfussy.

A rare moquette of a work by english artist Lynn Chadwick
took center stage on the table.

Who or what has most inspired your entertaining style?
My mother had a wonderful style of entertaining. She was very easy going in her approach to entertaining and her guests always enjoyed her parties because of it. I always try to follow in her spirit with my own friends now.

A mix of Daum glassware, Royal Copenhagen and Bernardaud create
a refined place setting for each guest.

Michael's tips for a fun get together: beautiful linens, simple yet bold flowers and great music!

Do you have a favorite china or tabletop item that you collect?
Puiforcat flatware, Georg Jenson silver, Rosenthal and Royal Copenhagen China and we always love a small sculpture which reflects our taste and adds to the table setting conversation.
