Rubie Green and Samantha House Jewelry

Rubie Green textiles  and Samantha House Jewelry teamed up recently for a fun filled collection preview at New York's Lather Spa. I have known Michelle for several years ever since she was an editor for Domino Magazine. Her collection is also represented in Australia by the same group that represents mine, Oliveaux. It was really great to see Michelle launch her fabrics with such a bang.
The place was packed with all the pretty stylish young woman that make a night out in New York, a night in New York. The spa was even giving complimentary services to the happy guests.

I was really surprised to open the September/October issue of Southern Accents magazine this week and find my fabrics in two stories!

The very talented and charming Marisa Marcantonio recently blogged about Michael Devine Home. She is the ultimate shopper and her blog Stylebeat strongly reflects her passion.

Carla for the Weekend

When was the last time the first lady of France or any other country has put out a fabulous cd?
Leave it to Madame la Presidente, the beautiful and smart Carla Bruni Sarkozy, to create an amazing collection of easy to listen to music. I can't get enough of it, I have been playing it non-stop this week. It's great for the office or drinks in the garden. Sadly, according to the New York Post this week it's not available yet in the US. However, it's just a click away with the Itunes icon (my copy was a gift from someone who just got back from France).

Michael Devine Signature Collection

In spite of the miserable weather this summer, it has been a really great time to focus on the concept of a Michael Devine Signature Collection. So as it happened, one day the phone rang from someone who could do frames and other things.... So I sent some fabrics on trial and voila the results are beautiful.
The quality is great and it's made in America (food miles- how about product miles?). So here is the first endeavor. The great thing is I can use any of the fabrics from my collection and do custom pieces! Over the next few months we will be adding baby books, desk blotters, waste baskets, tissue box covers and many other useful items.

Frames in Dottie Lemon- how fun are these?
The guestbook- something every house or event should have.
Wouldn't Tippi Hendren want these on her desk?
A handy 4" x 6" photo album for  honeymoon pics or grandkids photos?
Of course the large album has wedding and summer vacation written all over it.

Dreaming of Summer

Oh for the glories of summer, hot weather and bright relentless cheerful sunshine. Such were my dreams for this summer during the Ethan Frome days of February and March. Alas, it has rained almost everyday at least once a day since June. Today was a particularly fun day, since the roof sprung a leak (never mind the totally gut renovation that we did - whoops forgot the roof- hate when that happens). Our very handy, handyman Mr. Sal came right over when the rain briefly stopped and put a tarp on the roof to stop the leak. Of course where was the leak? Directly over the bed, thanks to Mr. Sal I don't have to sleep with a bucket next to me. Don't even ask about what a new roof cost these days.
So my dreams of summer continue. Appeased by the glories of the June blooms of my  Pierre de Ronsard roses that covered one side of the garden fence in June and the brave morning glories that are blooming now.

These are really called Heavenly Blue Morning Glories, well named I think.

PM Winebar

The one amenity that has been lacking in upstate life, has until recently been a chic place to meet friends for a drink. No more. PM Wine Bar has opened in Hudson. The decor is simple stylish country and the wine list offers something for every occasion. They also do an amazing selection of Tapas for those who want to nibble. It has quickly gained a steady clientele of both city and local residents that only adds to its charm.

The Divine Mintons

Stuart and Deborah Minton hosted ther annual summer clam and lobster bake at their very dreamy mountain top home. The coveted invitation brought about seventy guests to enjoy great food in the most wondeful park like setting. It was a very spectacular summer afternon for all. Deborah is an avid gardener and charming hostess who has created an utopian paradise over many rolling acres for her and her husband.
