Sunday we went to the magnificent property, Montgomery Place in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The sprawling 434 acre estate was in the Livingston family for over two hundred years. The branch of the family that lived here were very much into horticulture and went as far as to hire one of my most favorite 19th century designers Andrew Jackson Downing. It was thrilling to see his work first hand.
Even though the house isn't open to the public (we were told they hope to have it open next year) the visit to the grounds was so beautiful and relaxing that it made it worth the trip.
So beautiful! I can only imagine that the interiors are wonderful too!
The pictures don't do it justice- and that portico-- the parties one could have there!
I can visualize what life was like on that gorgeous estate! Magnificent!
Stunning! What a beautiful place to take your friends.
